Surgical Experiences

  • Forefoot: hallux abductovalgus/bunion deformity, arthritic conditions of the great toe (joint implant or arthrodesis), lesser digit deformities, digital trauma, distal metatarsal osteotomies, management of neuromas, rheumatoid reconstruction, etc.
  • Midfoot: Lisfranc (tarsal-metatarsal joint) fracture/dislocations, metatarsus adductus correction, brachy-metatarsus (congenital short toe), sports medicine fracture types, bone tumors, etc.
  • Hindfoot: isolated and multi-joint arthrodesis, pes plan valgus (pediatric & adult flatfoot) correction; talar, navicular and calcaneal fractures; tendon & ligamentous repair/augmentation, Achilles tendon rupture, tendon repair & transfers, clubfoot, etc.
  • Ankle: ORIF of ankle fractures, ankle arthroscopy and ankle arthrodesis.
    • Miscellaneous: nerve release/decompression (Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, etc.), Charcot neuro- arthroplasty reconstruction, split thickness skin grafts, ultrasonography of the foot & ankle, etc.

Fellowship: Duties and experience

  • Inpatient Load ranged 25-45 patients. Surgical cases range from 15 to 30 a week. 5-10 new consultations every day.
  • Inpatient management of diabetic patients from podiatry standpoint, including evaluating and treating diabetic foot bone and soft tissue infections, gangrene, and open wounds for all age groups.
  • Outpatient Clinic Management of diabetic patients, including skin care, ulcers, infections, Charcot foot infections, wound care, preventive care, and offloading. Twice a week, seeing about 15 to 20 patients daily per provider.

Podiatric Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgical Resident 07/2021- 07/2024 Hunt Regional Medical Center, Greenville, TX

  • Responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care of all foot and ankle conditions which included general patient evaluation and assessment. Determining appropriate conservative treatments as well as complex and comprehensive medical and surgical planning.
  • Managed primary call for all foot and ankle trauma which includes open and closed ankle fractures, midfoot and forefoot pathology as well as all pedal soft tissue infection. As well as oversee inpatient care.
  • Served multiple outpatient clinics throughout the DFW Metroplex. Duties included but were not limited to Podiatric medical management, conservative and surgical treatment of complex forefoot and rearfoot pathology as well as the management of lower extremity sports injuries. Conducted in-office procedures which included intra/extra-articular injections, ingrown nail removals, tenotomies, wound debridement, and taping and strapping. Management of diabetic foot care.
  • Performed surgery at over a dozen surgical centers and hospitals throughout the DFW
  • Completed a short internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas that emphasized limb salvage and wound care.
  • Participated in a medical mission trip in San Miguel, Mexico where we served and provided lower extremity medical and surgical treatment to 520 patients in clinic, provide 28 corrective surgeries, and provide over 500 orthotics.
  • Ordered and interpreted laboratory, diagnostic and advanced imaging which includes radiographs, MRI and CT scans.
  • Rotated and collaborated with multiple specialties including vascular, orthopedics, general surgery, emergency and internal medicine, infectious disease, anesthesia, radiology, wound care and physical & rehabilitation medicine.
